Monster House

Here is Nathaniel's monster box inspired by Highlights magazine:

That is the Captain of ghosts (also the butler of Count Dracula).

Your doom has come upon you!

The porter is a ghost and the housemaid is a ghost. And your host is Dracula the Infamous.

Kappa

This is a Kappa. To destroy this creature, bow to it. It will bow back, spilling his/her Life force out of it's head.

phoenix

"The phoenix is a magnificent legendary bird that is said to live as long as 500-1,000 years. At the end of its long life the phoenix was believed to be reincarnated from its own ashes. This extraordinary bird occurs in many ancient cultures including Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Egyptian and Native American." from the Eyeball Animation Drawing Book Creatures Edition from Accord Publishing, Ltd by Jeffery C. Cole

There is also a superhero from the X-Men called Phoenix. It is amazing that it can live very long.

Cerberus

You may recognize this creature from Harry Potter.  He is Hagrid's Fluffy.  "Cerberus was the monstrous three-headed dog who guarded the gates to the underworld, according to Greek mythology.  Instead of fur, Cerberus had a coat of writhing snakes - presumably taking all the pleasure out of scratching." (Jeffrey C. Cole, Eyeball Animation Drawing Book: Creatures Edition.  Accord Publishing Ltd.  Denver.  2002.)

If you want to learn more about this mythological creature, you can read about it at Wikipedia here.

Quetzalcoati

The Quetzalcoati is a monster from my monster book, The Amazing Book of Monsters.  "The ancient Aztecs of Mexico worshipped Quetzalcoati, the feathered serpent.  When Spanish conquistadors invaded Mexico in 1519, the Aztecs believed them to be Quetzalcoati's attendants and intially welcomed their attackers as gods.  The Spanish defeated the Aztecs two years later." (Jeffrey C. Cole, Eyeball Animation Drawing Book: Creatures Edition. Accord Publishing Ltd. Denver. 2002.)

(Moral of the Story: don't ever make someone out to be a god or you will be defeated too!)

Mummy

"It took about seventy days and hundreds of yards of linen to prepare only one Egyptian mummy." (Jeffrey C. Cole, Eyeball Animation Drawing Book: Creatures Edition. Accord Publishing Ltd. Denver. 2002.)
